I wanted to abstractly demonstrate the juxtaposition of the quiet elegance of the Sandhills Crane against the bold layers that the clear summer sky reflecting upon the water gives the viewer of the piece. I think that the surrealistic rendering of the bird is at once a great foil to the abstract background, while creating a sense of calm.

Artist's Statement:

I work primarily in oil, or acrylic/mixed media. I am a self taught artist and have been painting professionally since 1993 and specialize in portraiture, wildlife, dogs, and abstract art.
