Sharon Austin
Sharon's passion for painting has evolved, but she began oil painting in earnest in 2020. An oil painting class/workshop taught by master artist Kathy Rivera provided and continues to provide the inspiration for Sharon to hone her creative talents. With subjects that include seascapes, landscapes, water falls, florals, and atmospheric scenes , her paintings tend toward realism and abstract realism. Saron strives to create works that evoke serenity and awe at the beauty of the natural world. Sharon is a juried member of the Bon Air Artist Association in Richmond, a founding member of the Swift Creek Artists group, and has juried in to a variety of exhibits in the Richmond, Virginia area.
The beauty of natural vistas call loudly to me. I am drawn to capturing the beauty of landscapes, seascapes, and florals on canvas. I enjoy painting the complex and delicate clouds that fill the sky, waterfalls that spill into streams and rivers, flowers that color. I uenjoy creating a mood or atmosphere that captures light and shadow. Each scene suggests a story, creates a feeling, a contrast, a wonderful moment. I paint these moments to capture the magical energy, power, moodiness, and beauty of nature.
