Simeon (Sam) Poulin

Simeon (Sam) Poulin is a Richmond, Virginia based artist, designer, and educator whose work seeks to capture how spaces live in our dreams and memories. He seeks to capture the emotional connections that people have to a place and time through color, texture, and composition.  Sam enjoys the lifelong process of taming the elusive medium of watercolor. The unique properties of this unpredictable medium lend themselves to his intent. He enjoys balancing a sense of control and chaos in his work and letting go of trying to control the results. His subjects range from pastoral and rustic landscapes to dense urban scenes. Sam also finds tremendous reward in teaching others and sharing his experience and knowledge.

He has shown his work at Crossroads Art Center and Artworks in Richmond, VA. He is a member of the Virginia Watercolor Society and Artspace Gallery. He teaches monthly watercolor workshops at Artspace Gallery and he sells his work in art markets on the east coast.
