Student Exhibit 2025

A talented artist in his own right, Curney Nuffer also excels as a teacher in several painting mediums, especially oil. He has taught at CAC for ——-years, intermediate and advanced students 2 days a week. Curney also exhibits year round in a space which allows 2 students at a time to also exhibit their work.

His students range from other artists at Crossroads Art Center as well as artists wanting to return to painting and need encouragement and support. A diverse group of students range from retired medical doctors to nuclear physicists, some originally from as far away as Russia and Afghanistan, to local artists who enjoy the camaraderie of a weekly 3 hour class.

His goal as a teacher is to educate about basic foundations of drawing and painting and coax the students to move forward and find their own direction as artists: To refine their approach and rethink their painting goals. Painting from life as well as Plein air paintings is encouraged and also a wide range of photo reference available to borrow during classes.

The subject matter runs the gambit from vast landscapes to small head and shoulder paintings to colorful still life’s. This exhibit shows the variety of his students’ talents during 2025.
