Suzanne Peters

Suzanne Peters

Suzanne Peters grew up learning different mediums of art from textile to painting.

Seed beads are her first love due to color choices and being able to “paint” with them either in peyote stitch or in bead embroidery.  She has worked  in many types of jewelry design from fine silver to wire work to polymer clay but seed beads with natural stone cabochons are her favorite.

Suzanne’s first bead project was over 40 years ago.  She changed to other mediums such as weaving and quilting for a while.  She then returned to beading over 20 years ago and acquired new techniques through self-taught learning.

Suzanne studied at VCU and then finished her BA in Business Administration at University of Mary Washington.

She is retired from a large insurance company, the same place where she met her best friend and beading business partner, Jody Bryan. Together their beaded creations go by the name of Treat Yourself Designs and were featured in the museum shop at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for over ten years.
