Artist Bio:
Syeda Mleeha Shah is a Richmond-based design artist whose work blends Middle Eastern geometric traditions with contemporary design. Inspired by Turkish calligraphy, Moroccan zellige, and classical Arabesque patterns, she creates artwork that explores symmetry, rhythm, and visual harmony.
Following the passing of her mother in 2021, Shah returned to the patterns and artistic traditions that shaped her childhood, leading to the creation of her JAG Universal Collection Art. Her work combines cultural heritage with a modern aesthetic, transforming traditional motifs into contemporary compositions.
Shah has exhibited at Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen and Artspace. Through her design-focused approach, she seeks to create pieces that invite reflection, connection, and a deeper appreciation for pattern as a universal language.
