This piece is named after an Icelandic waterfall named Glymur. The footed vessel was carved, textured and painted to invoke the appearance a cascading waterfall. The wood was naturally ebonized to represent the black basalt rock.

Artist's Statement:

My woodturning adventure began back in 2012 and over time my skills have improved and I have developed my own creative style. I primarily create lathe turned hollow and open forms in wood from native Virginia trees. I try to work with wood from trees that were felled by a storm, disease or for safety reasons. I like to embellish my work with various carving techniques, coloring and wood burning. Though the trees I work with are no longer living they still live on in my creations.
