I am drawn to the richness of the history here in Richmond. Libby Hill is one of my favorite views especially to capture the sunset glow on the buildings.

Artist's Statement:

My inspiration for painting comes from nature and the beauty of light and shadows on a subject. I enjoy the buttery texture and the vast color combinations I can mix with oil paints to represent my interpretation or impression of a scene. My creative process usually involves starting with a thumbnail size sketch to work out the values and composition. I often do a small color study using gouache medium. Once all the challenges are worked out, I can proceed to the oil painting on either canvas or panel.
