Sunlight led the way and invited me to paint this view of the back porch of the Bloemendaal House at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. I took photos and headed home to turn them into this painting.

Artist's Statement:

Throughout her life, Kathleen enjoyed drawing and watercolor painting for personal or family projects but only occasionally. Recently, she started pursuing watercolor painting in earnest with a focus on improving her technique, closeup views of the garden, individual plants and flowers, and landscapes. Each painting is a discovery, a celebration of creation, and hopefully, something pleasant to view.
