Angelica Gottberg
Autumn in Appalachia
21 x 36 x 1"
Cotton cord, wool roving, wool and acrylic yarn
$240
This piece was inspired by autumn leaves creeping across forested hills in the Appalachian mountains. As someone born during and deeply connected to fall, I can't think of a better seasonal feeling of joy than that initial turning of leaves and the first lingering cool nights and mornings.
Artist's Statement:
Through fiber art I seek most to explore the theme of connection, particularly our connection to nature and the land around us, as well as to each other in community. I aim to create lush, textured pieces that momentarily pull someone out of our overwhelmingly digital world and into little moments of feeling the forest around you, or the endurance of a community binding its wounds, or running your hand through vines trailing over the edge of a city balcony.
