I encountered this church in the UK on a walk. I was struck by the use of different stones to create embellishments and patterns. The contrast between the light building with the darkness of the entryway enticed me to attempt to recreate it in stitches.

Artist's Statement:

I work with fiber and found objects, stitching together small scenes that draw attention to the overlooked. Using needle and thread, I explore the quiet beauty found in moss, rusted surfaces and the subtle textures of decay and regrowth.

My mother’s watercolor practice taught me that the smallest details hold the deepest stories. She taught me to look closely, to follow the hints and whispers in the world around me. That way of seeing guides my hand as I assemble fragments of the natural and discarded into intimate compositions.

In my work, decay is not an ending but a beginning - a space where new growth emerges and where the humble and forgotten reveal their quiet resilience. Through each stitched line and gathered object, I invite viewers to slow down, notice the small things and find beauty in the places where transformation takes root.
