During a trip with my parents and children to the U.K., we spent one week in the Cotswolds. My then 15 year-old son and I hiked to the top of the hills just outside the town of Malvern. At the top, we looked down on the town and had a spectacular sweeping view. I will never forget that moment.
Artist Statement:
To be alive is to be inspired. It’s all quite simple, really. Everywhere I look I find inspiration from the geraniums on my back porch, to wildflowers growing in an urban alleyway, to the sweeping bucolic scenery of the American South. I may use a different approach in a small plein air painting produced in the field than I would with a larger studio painting based on sketches and photographs, but the goal is always the same: to translate the beauty I see before me to something that would bring the viewer peace, joy or plain happiness.
