During a trip to the U.K. with my parents and children, we were driving from the Cotswolds into London. From our moving vehicle, I took a photo of the countryside upon which this painting is based. It was summer and everything was magnificently green and bright..
Artist Statement:
To be alive is to be inspired. It’s all quite simple, really. Everywhere I look I find inspiration from the geraniums on my back porch, to wildflowers growing in an urban alleyway, to the sweeping bucolic scenery of the American South. I may use a different approach in a small plein air painting produced in the field than I would with a larger studio painting based on sketches and photographs, but the goal is always the same: to translate the beauty I see before me to something that would bring the viewer peace, joy or plain happiness.
