Artist Statement: 

Since rediscovering her love of painting in 2014, Janine Orr has focused on painting in oils, to explore the beauty, color, and light in contemporary and representative landscape paintings and the still life. 
Janine earned a BA in fine arts from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she studied drawing, painting, and print-making. Early in her career, she was a successful magazine illustrator and art director. Later, she owned and operated an award-winning publication design firm in Washington, D.C. for 24 years. 
“My artistic abilities served me well during my commercial publishing career, but eventually the only artistic tool I ever used was a Mac! This encouraged me to return to painting and begin my new artistic journey.” 
Janine has studied oil painting with several prominent artists, en plein aire, in studio workshops and online. She works in oils on panel, linen, or canvas, is always experimenting, and continuing her artistic journey. She embraces painting as a never-ending learning experience. 
Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, and later Arlington, Virginia, Janine now resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband, Frank Finn.
