The perspective pulls you easily to the horizon while the shadows from the trees provide a dancing foreground. I have visited the theatre that is mostly hidden on the left hand side of the piece.

Artist Statement: 

The focus of my work is the drama of ordinary times and places. It is my belief that aesthetics have value and that these can be observed in the most commonplace locations and surroundings. Two women share a greeting surrounded by others making their way through the city on a bright Moscow afternoon. There are awnings of streetside restaurants. This is the subject of one of the paintings I worked on a while back. It might be argued that Moscow hardly constitutes an ordinary location, the point is that this is just a place I happened to be. I focus on the infusion of life in my work. My primary tool is strong, rich color which makes the subject a little more worthy of the eye of the viewer. A realist outcome is the goal, but not just for the sake of photographic representation. The objective is to get the viewer to consider these scenes and be that much more aware of their own surroundings. The light of a sunny afternoon, the wash between the streets as it floods between buildings and vehicles. I have begun to populate my pieces. I like the idea of these strangers sharing my environments.
