Yellow Train At Great Shiplock Park
11 x 14 x .25", framed to 16 x 19 x 1.25"
Oil on Canvas

I began this painting on location just as a yellow freight train rolled through the scene. I loved the surprise of that brilliant streak of color against the hazy river and muted industrial landscape. The painting captures a side of Richmond I'm particularly drawn to -- where water, trees, old industry and the movement of the City all collide.
Artist's Statement:
Art is about nourishment. It feeds the soul. From the start of each painting, I strive to capture the essence of the subject through a process of discovery combining curiosity, analysis, and intuition. Compelling paintings are founded on the visual artist's unique work flow -- eye, brain, heart and hand. Art fosters interconnections capable of touching the deepest parts of a human being. Creating art that nurtures myself and the emotional well-being of others is at the core of my art practice.
