"Masks of the Mind" explores the layers we present to the world and the truths we keep within. Geometric patterns and luminous mandalas symbolize identity, resilience, and reflection, inviting viewers to look beyond appearances and discover the quiet harmony hidden beneath life's complexities.
Artist's Statement:
This piece is a reflection of my heart’s dialogue with Moroccan tradition—where geometry becomes language and every curve carries memory. Working under Arabesque Reflections, I root my process in the timeless aesthetics of Berber, Arab, and Andalusian design. The layered mandala at the center echoes the rhythm of zellige tilework, while the filigree borders borrow their softness from carved wooden doors and embroidered textiles that have shaped generations before us.
The deep reds, blacks, and teals move like the pulse of an old marketplace—alive, textured, and grounded—while the white floral motifs offer a breath of light, almost like an invitation to stillness. I want this piece to feel both ancient and current, like something you’ve known forever yet are seeing with new eyes.
My goal with this work is to honor the artisans whose hands built the visual language I carry today, while giving it a modern edge that speaks to the next generation. It is a continuation of tradition, a reminder of where we come from, and a quiet push forward into where we’re going.
