Danny Trent is a abstract artist working in acrylics. He currently lives and works in Richmond, Virginia. He resumed painting in 2011 after a 13 year hiatus. Danny attended Richard Bland College in Petersburg, Virginia for two years and majored in Art Education. He then transferred to Virginia Commonwealth University where he majored in Painting and Printmaking. While attending VCU, one of his painting studio classes was taught by Abstract Expressionist painter Milton Resnick. Danny’s approach to painting has been heavily influenced by Resnick. He says, “ my paintings are not about recreating images but with the painting itself being the image “. He applies paint using stiff, paint encrusted, house painters brushes. This allows for exaggerated marks of color and texture that become a chaos of surface unity revealing glimpses of it’s history.
