Debbie Ortiz

Artist Statement:

Deborah is a Richmond based artist specializing in oils and acrylics.  As a native Mainer raised in Maine’s great outdoors, she draws inspiration from both her frequent return trips to Maine, as well as in Richmond where she lives along the James River painting landscapes both plein air style and in her studio. After a successful career as a health care provider, Deborah finds joy in bringing outdoors life to the canvas. Her paintings use a sense of movement, and natural lights and color, to create a sense of nature’s peace and tranquility. Her work has been shown at Crossroads Art Center (CAC), the Richmond Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) studio school and the annual University of Richmond Art show.  She has studied under accomplished artists in Chicago and Richmond, including at CAC and the VMFA.
