Elaine Murkin

Elaine Murkin has been painting and drawing since she was a small child growing up in England. She studied fine art painting at Chesterfield College of Art and Design in Derbyshire. Since graduating she has continued to paint and draw, working extensively in oil, watercolor, and pastel, often creating large oil paintings on traditionally stretched canvases as well as many oil paintings on board.

Her influences take in the broad spectrum of her travels with many paintings depicting the pastoral beauty of England as well as the areas around Lake Chesdin and Richmond.

Elaine’s prolific work and commitment has yielded a personal style that is rich and expressive. Her use of both brushes and palette knives creates a superb balance between close detail and heavy impasto techniques. This is paired with a heavy gloss color that is bold and expressive, so ultimately the mood and feel of the subject matter is captured with uncanny precision.
