Janine Orr

Janine works in oils on panel, linen, or canvas using traditional materials and methods. She embraces her art journey as a never-ending learning experience and filled with experimentation and growth.

Janine’s formal training includes studying drawing, painting, and print-making at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her design career began as a successful magazine illustrator and art director, followed by 24 years as sole proprietor of an award-winning publication design firm in Washington, D.C.

After an extensive design career, Janine rediscovered her love of painting. Since 2014, she has focused on expressing herself in oils and exploring the beauty, color, and light in contemporary and representative landscape paintings and still life.

“My artistic abilities served me well during my commercial publishing career, but eventually the only artistic tool I ever used was a Mac! This encouraged me to return to painting and begin a new artistic journey.”

Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, and later Arlington, Virginia, Janine now resides in Richmond, Virginia with her husband, Frank Finn.
