Artist Bio

Karen Palmer is a fine artist whose expressive paintings reflect her deep connection to music and nature. Based in Richmond, VA and originally from Boston, MA, she signs her work “palmer K” - a name that later inspired the creation of her brand, PALMER K Designs. Karen’s art captures emotion through movement, color, and rhythm, translating the spirit of sound and life into visual form.

Known for her abstract-impressionistic music themed paintings, Karen’s work explores the deep connection between sound and feeling - translating melody, harmony, and rhythm into color and form. Her paintings celebrate the beauty of musical expression and the creative freedom found in following one’s intuition. Continuing to be music inspired, Karen’s current studio musings include geometric collections exploring new color palettes, shapes, movement, and human connection.

Artist Statement

My work is a reflection of life’s rhythm - its harmony, its improvisation, and the spaces in between. I paint the way I play music: freely, intuitively, and with heart. Each brushstroke feels like a note; each composition, a song.

I’m drawn to the energy of guitars, the way an instrument can sing for you, and how sound transforms into emotion. On the canvas, I aim to capture that same pulse - the vibrancy, the movement, and the connection it creates between artist and viewer.

Using a mix of tools, textures, and mediums, I allow the creative process to lead the way. My goal is to create artwork that is visually engaging and emotionally resonant, inviting a sense of familiarity and joy while encouraging the viewer to pause, look closer, and find their own story within the piece.

I am full of excitement about my new pieces/collections exploring movement and geometric shapes, drawing inspiration from life, nature, and of course, music.
