I began making fused glass one of a kind functional pieces for the home. I have now expanded into creating art pieces using nature as my inspiration as well as the many techniques of glass fusing.

During 40 years of teaching elementary and middle school art, I was involved with many artistic media. Some of my favorites were watercolor and ceramics. As an elementary art teacher, I always loved opening the clay kiln to see what my little artists did.  It was like the excitement of Christmas morning. Now, I experience the same anticipation as I open the glass kiln.  Both watercolor and glass fusing possess the visual qualities of color, fluidity, and transparency.

I began by creating useful items for the home. Now I have expanded into the purely artistic aspects of glass fusing.  The many different techniques found in fusing glass keep me highly engaged in pursuing the endless possibilities of this medium. Glass flows, pattern bars, reactive glass, inclusions, kiln carving, painting, stamping, and stenciling with glass enamels, multiple uses of glass powders, freeze and fuse, and casting are just a few of the techniques that bring dimension to my work.  I also create mixed media sculptures using glass fusing. 

I am drawn to the colors of nature; the sand, sea, and sky; the greens of flora; the creatures of this earth; and the transparency of glass. I hope you enjoy my work.
