There is abstracted expression of a mass of unique yet ubiquitous forms within one collected form. The forms within are abstracts of each human as well as abstracts of cross sections of hypodermic needles. Type 1 Diabetic or not, we’re all separated, fractured from a symbol of divine love and touch.
Artist's Statement:
My career as a fine artist began as a student at VCU then pivoted to culinary arts via Reynold’s Community College.
My life has been a weave of culinary employment in restaurants, catering, country clubs, volunteering, and predominantly in senior living dietary services.
My entire existence has been partially, or at times, wholly consumed by insulin-dependent Type1 Diabetes.
My return to fine art has been dually motivated. I will raise awareness of the perpetual demands of the chronic illness itself and to be charitable to children of most critical need.
Artist statement? My human statement is my precedent.
My aim is to show reverence for art, its elements, and its principles while fulfilling my life mission.
This open call is my first step to bringing my altruistic intentions to societal fruition.
