This painting captures the light at play near sunset on Atlantic Beach, FL. People walk up and down the beach amid a staggering reflection of the sky upon the wet sand, and the line between sea, sky, and shore becomes nearly indistinguishable.

Artist's Statement:

Joel Sprinkle is a self-taught painter from Southwestern Virginia. His artwork dwells on ephemeral beauty—insects, animals, a building at a specific time with a specific light, and reflections all form his favorite subjects. His work exhibits realistic tendencies, although he allows a painterly approach to tinge some aspects in order to emphasize the role of personal interpretation.
