Susan Arnold, Fine Artist Bio
Susan Arnold’s artistic journey began in her childhood by the beautiful James River, where she was surrounded by nature and a family that greatly valued the arts. From an early age, she was drawn to music, crafts, and mixed media, reflecting the vibrant world within her.
With degrees in business and classical music, Susan worked in corporate roles, established a career as a professional soprano soloist, and later became an executive coach. A gift from her daughter—a painting class—reignited her passion for visual arts, leading her to explore oil painting as she approaches semi-retirement.
Susan’s work is marked by bold color, mood, and texture, shaped by both research and introspection. Her creative process is fueled by a blend of inspiration, personal experiences, and a deep connection to nature and family. After joining the Swimming in Paint program under the mentorship of Chuck Larivey, her skills flourished, and her art began to evoke emotional responses from viewers.
Susan’s pieces have found a home at the Crossroads Art Center, where they invite contemplation and healing. She continues to refine her craft, offering art that provides a moment of beauty and refuge.
