Tommy Nikitiuk
Tommy Nikitiuk is the artist behind Take One Aerial, a passion project that explores Richmond’s cityscape and surrounding landscapes through the unique perspective of drone photography. With endless vantage points available from above, his work seeks to reveal familiar places in unfamiliar ways—capturing details, rhythms, and geometries that often go unnoticed at ground level.
His inspiration draws from a mix of early influences: the skating (rollerblading) scene, the visual energy of music videos, and the natural beauty of everyday environments. These influences, combined with a lifelong pull toward creative expression, shape a practice that balances raw curiosity with a desire to reframe the ordinary.
Having grown up in Virginia Beach, with early childhood in Germany as a military brat, and later moved to Richmond after graduating from Old Dominion University, Tommy’s sense of place and movement informs much of his perspective. Through Take One Aerial, he aims to invite viewers into a fresh relationship with their surroundings—encouraging them to pause, look again, and find wonder in spaces they thought they already knew.
