Artist's Statement:
Sandy Watts has been embracing oil painting as a primary focus, however, she explores other media such as acrylics, mixed media and encaustics. This curiosity continues to nurture her artistic growth and allows her to experiment with different techniques and textures across her work. She captures her appreciation of natures beauty through plein air sessions with the Virginia Plein Air Painters, where she finds inspiration in the natural world and the dynamic play of light and shadow. An active member of the Chester Artists Association since 2023 and the James River Art League since 2025, Sandy is building a presence in the local arts community, sharing her work through exhibitions, group and solo shows. Her paintings reflect a growing mastery of the oil medium and a deep appreciation for capturing the beauty of everyday scenes, while her broader artistic practice reveals a spirit of exploration and creative openness.
