Arlington National Cemetery strives to honor the sacrifices and extraordinary lives of American service members and their families. As a disabled veteran, this resonates deeply with me.

Artist's Statement:

I began taking pictures as a young adult.  My early efforts focused on places I traveled, typically with a simple point and shoot camera.  In my late 20's I had an opportunity to learn how to use single lens reflex cameras and the world of photography, as an artistic medium, was opened to me.  I began to explore the artistic aspects of photography about 15 years ago by self-study.  I have since taken formal photography classes exploring the use of light, composition, and specialized topics such as long exposure, low light and action photography.  After seeing photos printed on metal and glass, and noting the improved color and details in them, I began printing my photos on those surfaces.  I have shown my art at juried neighborhood shows, the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, Crossroads Art Center and Libertytown Arts Workshop.
