Non objective art inspired by own thoughts on nature spurred on by Adele Castillo's Abstract Workshop instruction to think outside of the box. What could be more outside of the box than the endless night sky?

Artist's Statement:

I have been interested in art all my life, dabbling with mediums throughout high school and minoring in art in college. I spent a dozen years throwing pots, working with a group of fellow clay artists in my home studio. All of this fun was interrupted by a different kind of pleasure--the arrival of four kids who needed to be raised and sent to college. My mother inspired my return to art as she modeled happily taking up art again after a long child-rearing break. I wanted the same great life!  

My paintings are based on my experiences in nature. I frquently take photos of scenes that inspire me, including sunsets, trees, birds, and other living creatures. I use my time enjoying the outdoors and my photos as ispiration for or rough reference for my paintings. I have won awards for my paintings in For Art’s Sake, James River Art League, and Rappahannock Art League judged shows and I have shown my paintings in multiple exhibit locations in Richmond and beyond. I have learned from Adele Castillo, Christaphora Robeers, Robin Caspari, Anne Chaddock, Doug Mock, Curney Nuffer, and other local artists. I thank all of my instructors and fellow artists for showing me and contributing to this wonderful life of painting.
