"Creating Thru The Night" is a modern parody of the iconic "Mac Tonight" Racing Partnership from the '90s as an homage to the all nighters and late-night grind associated with the motorsports creative field. I have illustrated myself as the Moon emblazoned across the hood of a modern Stock-Car.
Artist's Statement:
I am a lifelong motorsports fan and artist who specializes in motorsports illustration, graphic design, and photography. Formerly a Graphic Artist for NASCAR and Stewart-Haas Racing, I have immersed myself in the stock-car racing world while developing a distinct vintage illustration style inspired by the greats of the past. I have been heavily influenced by the automotive art of Virginia's own, Sam Bass, a hero of mine, who served as a mentor in the later years of his storied career. In my illustration work I have developed various digital techniques to give my art the appearance of being painted with watercolor, fine art marker, or traditional paint all without ever picking up an actual pen or brush. I approach every piece with the intention to have it look period correct for the subject matter I am portraying. I always start each piece by asking myself "If it were hanging on a clothes rack or a poster wall in the year the subject was popular, would it look out of place?" This same philosophy has been applied to my merchandise illustrations as well, implementing the use of vintage style halftones and drawn line work to create an accurately vintage appearance in each composition.
