Flax, Wool, Sequin Yarn and Fabric

Weaving is a gesat way to create interesting textures and color patterns. This piece was created on a rigid heddle loom, using various techniques- plain weave, tapestry weave, and embroidery. It's inspired by my love of water and reflections of sun and trees.
Artist's Statement:
I've always been fascinated by the creative possibilities of fabric and yarn. My grandmother taught me knitting and sewing, which led me to making my own clothing and sweaters, even while I was music school. In 2016, I put down the violin and the baton and started weaving. Since then, I've added wet, nuno and needle felting to my artistic repertoire. Most of my inspiration comes from the color of the fiber I'm using, and nature, especially flowers.
