The delicate beauty of this goldfinch, enjoying a cool morning feast of the seeds of a nearby butterfly bush for several mornings this summer, inspired me to paint him.

Artist's Statement:

This is a some of my work in encaustic wax. I have been using this medium for about four years and absolutely love the process and the final result.

Beeswax is mixed with damar resin and then melted and applied to a hard surface.  The darmar resin allows for a final buffing and shine.
