Artist's Statement:
Mike Jack Stoumbos comes to painting from the world of science fiction. As a published author of space exploration stories and the editor of WonderBird Press’s “Unhelpful Encyclopedia” series, Mike’s work is highly inspired by (of course) space and strange phenomena of the natural world. Using paint-pouring and acrylic techniques, he pursues curiosity and wonder in both the subject matter and process of making art. Mike lives in Virginia with his wife and fellow artist Morrigen Stoumbos, as well as a small dog and an old parrot who are his biggest fan and harshest critic (respectively).
